The pickling process for Duplex/ stainless steel (AISI 316L, AISI 304L) is carried out with nitric acid/ hydrofluoric acid. The pickle is particularly important after machining, folding and welding, since the milling tools used to work stainless qualities are generally of carbon steel. The pickle removes residues of carbon steel and weld fumes, while reinstating the resistant oxide coat on the product. The treatment results in corrosion protection and an attractive visual appearance.
